I am a child of God, wife, mother and now grandmother or Nan to 3 precious grandchildren. Ever since I can remember, I loved food and struggled with my weight. I was the kid who would try anything. We lived in South Florida with access to many cultures and their foods. I remember my Dad would take us to different places to eat and try new foods. Even as a kid I liked Cuban food, true Italian food, seafood, American and even the Irish corned beef and cabbage in March. I am the one who looked back at pictures and thought…Hmmm, I was thin then, but I never thought that at the time. I have always been active. I used to be a distance runner but those knees and days are over for me. I still work out every week with a balance of cardio and weight-bearing exercises. When I approached my 40’s, having a personal trainer and even running, it just didn’t fall off anymore. I would think about everything that I ate and whether it was good for me or make me gain weight. It was exhausting! The crazy thing was that if you asked anyone, they would tell you I was the healthiest eating person they knew and I still couldn’t lose but was actually gaining little by little.
Eventually, glucose (or food that turns into sugar), will catch up with you. That saying you can’t exercise a bad diet is true. But I even had a good one, so I thought. What was the problem?
I also suffer from migraines and have since my 20’s. My main trigger has always been hormones, but certainly not limited to that. Medical doctors told me when I reach menopause, migraines will stop. I started going to a Chiropractor in my mid-twenties to help with my migraines and I did get relief. What I have found as I have gotten older is that I couldn’t lose weight and my migraines haven’t gone away. I have prayed for years to find the answer to both of these issues I have lived with a long time. A couple of years ago I noticed a regular patient at the Chiropractor’s office I work for, was losing weight. I asked her how she was doing it and she said Trim Healthy Mama. I asked her what that was and she said it was a plan that she found that she could do with having 7 children and breastfeeding. WHAT??? I asked her how it worked. She said it will get you off of sugar and combine certain foods to lose stored fat. If she can lose after 7 children and still have time to do this, so can I! I became a scholar of the plan, lost 15 pounds, migraines are so much better and I am still healing every day. Most of all, I think about all the great things I am doing for my body with EVERY BITE I take! YES, FOOD FREEDOM.
I can honestly say I have never felt better about how I feel and look. I have MIND FREEDOM as well as FOOD FREEDOM. You could say I have mind freedom from what I am about to eat and what it will NOT just do TO me, but what it will do FOR me…RELEASE FAT and heal my body one bite at a time. What excites me, even more, is that I feel good about what my family eats and the Food FREEDOM legacy that I am passing on to my children and their children.
